Talking about festivals the other day, made me look at my festival agenda of events back home in Holland. And the one that is coming up really soon is Amsterdam Open Air. Last years rendition of the Amsterdam based weekender, was probably one of my best festival experiences ever! It was a combination of things of course; the weather was good, the music was insane, the location was cozy and I was just with the right group of people! Really looking forward to this years event on the 8th and 9th of June. Hope it can top last year!!! Want to join me? Read more >>

The people who follow me in Instagram already noticed that I have been residing in China for a while – traveling in-between major Chinese cities. I’ll update on my travels later on, but first I want to share the images I’ve shot during Midi Festival in Shenzhen. It’s the Chinese version of Coachella (US), Glastonbury (UK) and Lowlands (NL). Twenty years ago Midi started in Beijing, and now their also organizing the event in Shanghai and Shenzhen, where I was this weekend. Although I’m really getting bored of beards in fashion ad campaigns (actually beards in general) I kinda like the new ad campaign of young label Natural Selection Denim. An edgy British denim brand, built on the Darwinian concepts of constant evolution. This season they adapted the brand’s subtle British aesthetics, communicated through the fit, cut and fabrics. Each pair undergoes a slow evolution with each season bringing a new interpretation on a classic style. Check out some of the AW13/14 images shot by Robert Harper… Read more >>

Ever since our Queen B (yeah the real Queen B, not Beyoncé) announced her abdication, the whole country was in shock but also very excited for upcoming Queensday. The whole city will be packed with people from all over the country to see the our new king accepting his new position. One of the big parties in the city is Kingsday Festival! The legendary Karl Lagerfeld opened his first official concept store in Amsterdam! As part of an international rollout of store openings, the Amsterdam location will feature Karl Lagerfeld’s contemporary concept. The Amsterdam store will combine the brand’s accessible luxury collections with cutting-edge digital technology and Lagerfeld’s iconic design aesthetic. The store is located in the picturesque Jordaan district, in a charming 18th- century listed building. Original structural elements have been preserved and incorporated into the newly renovated design. It’s exciting to see that they’ve chosen this area instead of an A-High-End-Location like the P.C. Hooftstraat, where all the big fashion houses are located! Read more >>

I knew Levi’s has a long and rich history, full of amazing stories. But last week I got a major heritage lesson by an official Levi’s historian from the States. In celebration of the (Levi’s) 501′s 140th birthday, foto museum FOAM Amsterdam, showcased one of the rarest 501 jeans ever. With a small group of people we got to see these amazing jeans, found in American gold mines! The fabrics are so old and fragile, that only the historian could touch them! Can you imagine wearing 140 year old jeans? Now that’s vintage! Read more >>
